Loveland (shoulder) is not participating in on-field work at rookie minicamp Friday as he continues to rehab from surgery undergone in January, Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network reports. Loveland, the 10th overall pick of April's draft, is present at rookie minicamp and building familiarity with Chicago's offensive scheme and new quarterback Caleb Williams (wrist), but the tight end's workout availability is currently limited to running and controlled lifting, per Bair. The rookie first-rounder is expected to be ready for increased participation in mandatory minicamp in early June and to be fully cleared for training camp in July. Loveland is a capable blocker at 6-foot-6, 260-pounds, but he figures to make his largest impact as a mismatch in the receiving game, though DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and rookie second-round pick Luther Burden represent plenty of competition for targets. Cole Kmet played 87 percent of snaps last season and has two years remaining on the four-year, $50 million deal he inked with Chicago in 2023, but Loveland boasts the draft capital and skillset to push for the No. 1 role before long.

Latest Bears News
Colston Loveland : Not ready for rookie minicamp
Cole Kmet : Facing target competition
The Bears are looking forward to using both Kmet and first-round draft choice Colston Loveland in two tight-end sets, " Larry Mayer of ChicagoBears.com reports. In 2024, Kmet recorded 47 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns on 55 targets, marking his least productive season since his rookie year in 2020. After playing 87 percent of the offensive snaps last season, Kmet now faces significant competition following the first-round selection of Loveland, whose arrival could sharply reduce his role. Although Loveland is expected to be an adequate blocker, the Bears likely drafted the former Michigan standout for his ability to create mismatches in the passing game. Unless the situation shifts during training camp, Kmet may go undrafted in the majority of fantasy leagues.
T.J. Edwards : Lands two-year, $20M extension
The Bears signed Edwards to a two-year, $20 million contract extension Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Edwards was headed into the final year of his three-year, $19.5 million deal but is now locked up through the 2027 campaign. Edwards has started all 17 regular-season games each of the last three seasons and has posted four consecutive 100-tackle campaigns. In 2024, Edwards recorded 129 tackles (79 solo), including a career-best 4.0 sacks, three pass breakups, including one interception, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He played 99 percent of the Bears' defensive snaps and should again function as an every-down linebacker for new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.
Kyler Gordon : Signs three-year extension
Gordon and the Bears agreed on a three-year, $40 million contract extension with $31.25 million guaranteed Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Gordon will stick around Chicago for the foreseeable future after securing a new deal Sunday. The cornerback is coming off of a 2024 campaign in which he compiled 75 total tackles (48 solo), including 0.5 sacks, while also adding five passes defensed, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries over 15 regular-season games. Gordon will likely operate as the Bears' primary slot cornerback again in 2025, playing alongside Jaylon Johnson (quadriceps) and Tyrique Stevenson.
Nahshon Wright : Lands in Windy City
The Bears signed Wright to a one-year contract Tuesday, Adam Hoge of AllCHGO.com reports. Wright appeared in one game for Minnesota last season, in which he played 15 snaps on special teams and saw no work on defense. The 2021 third-round pick likewise contributed more on special teams than defense during his three years with Dallas, priming him to now compete for a similar role in Chicago.
Bill Murray : Re-signs with Chicago
The Bears re-signed Murray (pectoral) on Monday. Murray was an exclusive rights free agent, and Chicago opted to bring him back for a second season. The 27-year-old played in just three games last year and worked in a rotational role, logging 21 percent of the Bears' offensive snaps in those contests. Murray ended the season on IR due to a pectoral injury but is expected to be ready to suit up by Week 1 of the upcoming campaign.
Chris Williams : Staying in Chicago
The Bears re-signed Williams on Monday. Chicago tendered Williams in early March, and the 26-year-old will be back for a second year with the organization for the 2025 season. Williams worked in a rotational role last season, posting 23 tackles (17 solo), including 3.0 sacks, over 17 games after not logging any time in the NFL in 2023. He'll likely have a similar role in 2025, though it's worth noting that Williams logged at least 46 percent of Chicago's defensive snaps in each of the team's final five games, so he could see the field relatively often if he performs well.
Case Keenum : Adding depth to Chicago QB room
Keenum signed a one-year contract with the Bears worth up to $3 million with the Bears on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Keenum missed all of the 2024 season with a foot injury while with the Texans. He's likely to be the third-string quarterback with the Bears, though he will add a veteran presence to an otherwise young positional group led by Caleb Williams.
