Head coach Matt LaFleur said Friday that Watson (knee) has "been outstanding" in his recovery from the torn right ACL he suffered in early January and is "working hard," Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports. LaFleur said Watson's work ethic approaching his ACL rehab has been impressive, per Ryan Wood of USA Today, but the timing of the young wideout's injury sheds serious doubt on his availability for the early portion of the regular season. Green Bay also invested significant draft capital at the wide receiver position in April's draft in the form of first-round pick Matthew Golden and third-rounder Savion Williams. With all of Jayden Reed (shoulder), Romeo Doubs (concussion), Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, Mecole Hardman (knee) and Malik Heath also on hand, the Packers boast one of the league's most crowded receiver rooms, meaning Watson will face tough competition for snaps even if he enjoys an exceptional recovery timeline.

Latest Packers News
Christian Watson : Progressing in rehab
Quay Walker : Fifth-year option declined by team
Walker had his fifth-year option declined by the Packers on Thursday, though the team still wants to work out an extension, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports. The 2022 first-round pick has recorded 121 (75 solo), 118 (59 solo) and 102 (72 solo) tackles across his three pro regular seasons, respectively, leading Green Bay in the category each year. Walker did miss seven combined games due to injuries the last two seasons, including three with an ankle issue and one with a concussion in 2024. Despite those injuries, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst called Walker "really impactful," "a great leader" and a player the team "would love to have" around "for longer than just a couple years," per Demovsky.
Devonte Wyatt : Option picked up by Green Bay
The Packers exercised Wyatt's (lower leg) fifth-year option Wednesday, Christian Kirby of Sports Illustrated reports. The 2022 first-round pick from Georgia will remain in Green Bay through the 2026 season after the team exercised his option Wednesday. Wyatt has been one of the Packers' top pass-rushers over the past two seasons, recording 59 total tackles, including 10.5 sacks, across 31 regular-season games. Now recovered from the lower leg injury he sustained in last year's wild-card loss to the Eagles, Wyatt is expected to serve as one of the Packers' starting defensive linemen in 2025.
Emanuel Wilson : Re-signs with Packers
Wilson signed his exclusive rights free-agent tender with the Packers on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Wilson is slated to return to the Packers where he carried the ball 103 times for 502 yards and four touchdowns in addition to catching 11 passes for 48 yards and one touchdown last season. The 25-year-old should be in line to be the primary backup behind Josh Jacobs during the upcoming campaign.
Bo Melton : Returning to Green Bay
Melton signed his exclusive rights free-agent tender with he Packers on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Melton is now officially set to return to Green Bay where he hauled in eight passes for 91 yards in 17 games last season in addition to carrying the ball eight times for 54 yards. He will likely compete for a spot as a depth receiver and can contribute as a returner and special teamer as well.
Isaiah Simmons : Signs with Green Bay
Simmons signed a one-year contract with the Packers on Tuesday. Simmons visited the Packers on April 14 and he'll now officially join the team ahead of the 2025 campaign. The linebacker, who was the eighth pick of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cardinals, is coming off of a 2024 campaign in which he recorded 21 total tackles (12 solo), two passes defensed and a forced fumble over 17 regular-season games with the Giants. The 26-year-old's 6-foot-4, 238-pound frame allows for some positional variability and he'll likely be a valuable asset for Green Bay on both defense and special teams in 2025.
Jaire Alexander : Could remain in Green Bay
Alexander (knee) could still play for the Packers in 2025, though a trade or release also remain possible outcomes, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Alexander is participating in Green Bay's voluntary offseason program, and the team's only addition at cornerback in the 2025 NFL Draft was Michigan's Micah Robinson, taken in the seventh round. Following the draft, however, general manager Brian Gutekunst said there were "no updates" on Alexander's status, per Demovsky. The two-time Pro Bowler has been limited the last two seasons due to injuries and is currently working his way back from surgery to address a right PCL tear, and he has two years remaining on his current contract. While all options remain on the table, a reconciliation between both sides might be the best outcome for Green Bay based on the team's current roster.
Zayne Anderson : Returning to Green Bay
Anderson signed his exclusive rights free-agent tender with the Packers on Monday, Zach Kruse of USA Today reports. Anderson is set to return to Green Bay where he racked up 16 tackles (13 solo) and an interception in 16 games during the 2024 campaign. The 28-year-old will likely serve as one of team's top backup safety options behind Xavier McKinney and Evan Williams and can contribute on special teams as well.
