Senga (4-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Diamondbacks, allowing two hits and six walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out four. Senga's command was shaky early, as he issued five walks in the first three innings. He'd manage to keep the Diamondbacks off the board, however, before settling in and retiring 11 of the 12 batters he faced over his final three frames. Senga's now held opponents scoreless in four of his seven starts this year. His ERA is down to a minuscule 1.16 with a 1.16 WHIP and 35:17 K:BB across 38.2 innings. Senga will look to keep his stellar run going in his next outing, currently slated for next week at home against the Pirates.
The Mets signed Poche to a minor-league contract Wednesday. Poche will remain in the National League East after being removed from the Nationals' 40-man roster and electing free agency this past weekend. The left-hander had an ugly 11.42 ERA and 2.54 WHIP with 10 strikeouts over 8.2 innings with the Nationals, but a 3.27 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 158:59 K:BB across 156.2 innings from 2022 through 2024 suggests Poche could bounce back if given the opportunity.
Marte is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Arizona. Marte is set to be the Mets' primary designated hitter while Jesse Winker (oblique) is sidelined, but he'll get a breather in Wednesday's matinee. Brandon Nimmo will be the club's DH, while Jeff McNeil patrols left field.
Vientos is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Arizona. Vientos appears to be getting a routine day off after starting in the last three contests and 13 of the past 14 tilts. Brett Baty will handle third base and bat sixth for the Mets on Wednesday.
Alvarez is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Arizona. Alvarez will get a breather for Wednesday's afternoon game after catching each of the previous three contests. Luis Torrens is behind the dish and batting fifth for the Mets.
Peterson (2-2) took the loss Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out six over six innings. The Mets got on the board first, but Peterson allowed two runs in the fourth inning and a two-run home run to Lourdes Gurriel in the sixth. While Peterson was able to complete six innings for the third time this season, the four runs allowed were a season high. He also yielded a homer for the first time since his season debut March 31 versus the Marlins. The southpaw has a 3.52 ERA across 38.1 innings, and he's added a 1.38 WHIP and 36:13 K:BB. He is tentatively projected to make his next start in a favorable matchup at home versus the Pirates.
Montas (lat) threw his third bullpen session Tuesday since resuming his throwing program in mid-April, MLB.com reports. After being diagnosed with a high-grade right lat strain in mid-February, Montas was shut down for nearly two months before receiving clearance to start throwing. He steadily increased his throwing distance off flat ground before recently being cleared for mound work, and he's thus far avoided any setbacks through his three bullpen sessions. Montas could soon advance to facing hitters in live batting practice, but he may be a week or more away from starting up a minor-league rehab assignment. The right-hander isn't expected to be ready to return from the 60-day injured list until around early June.
