Allen, who was released by the Commanders on Friday after having previously been given permission to seek a trade, is already exploring his options in free agency. The 30-year-old defensive tackle racked up 19 tackles (16 solo), including 3.0 sacks across eight regular-season appearances in 2024, and he could help fill a position of need for Minnesota's defensive line.

Allen is entering the final year of his four-year, $72 million extension and recently turned 30 years old in January. After playing in at least 15 games each season from 2018-23, Allen appeared in just eight regular-season contests this past campaign, finishing with 19 tackles, including 3.0 sacks. Allen is scheduled to collect a $15.5 million salary in 2025 and another $1.5 million in potential bonuses. Trading him would clear over $16.47 million in salary cap space for the Commanders.
Allen played in eight regular-season games in 2024, compiling 19 tackles (16 solo), including 3.0 sacks. Allen tore his left pectoral Week 6 against Baltimore and wasn't able to return to action until Week 17. When healthy, he worked as a starter and managed 3.0 sacks, and he logged his biggest workload of the campaign in Washington's NFC Championship Game loss to the Eagles, tallying five tackles and recording a season-high 51 defensive snaps. Allen was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and 2022 but has been less productive in the subsequent two campaigns. He's signed through next season, but it's not a lock that the Commanders will keep him around given that they could save $17 million in cap space by cutting him.
The Commanders activated Allen (pectoral) from injured reserve Saturday, and he carries no injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Falcons. Allen suffered a torn left pectoral muscle during the Commanders' Week 6 loss to the Ravens.
