Waived with injury designation
The Broncos waived/injured Fotheringham (undisclosed) on Tuesday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Fotheringham attended Denver's rookie minicamp and subsequently inked a contract with the club, but he'll now hit the waiver wire. It's unclear what type of injury he's dealing with. Fotheringham's exit Tuesday cleared room on the Broncos' roster for the signing of another tight end, Caden Prieskorn.
Heading to Denver
Fotheringham signed with the Broncos on Monday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. The tight end spent time on the Raiders' and Texans' practice squads in 2024, but he did not get elevated for any regular-season games. His only NFL experience to date came in 2023 with the Raiders, when he appeared in two games and caught one pass for six yards. Fotheringham faces a crowded field of players competing for roster spots in Denver's tight end group, including free-agent signing Evan Engram, 2024 contributors Adam Trautman, Lucas Krull and Nate Adkins, and 2025 seventh-round pick Caleb Lohner.
Jettisoned by Las Vegas
The Raiders cut Fotheringham from the practice squad Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Fotheringham was let go from the Texans' practice squad in early September, but he managed to catch on with the Raiders' practice squad Oct. 1. He wasn't elevated for a regular-season game, however, and the 27-year-old will now look to sign with a team in need of depth at tight end.

Fotheringham joined the Texans' practice squad in late August after failing to make Las Vegas' initial 53-man roster, but it now appears that Houston has decided to move in a different direction. In a corresponding move, the Texans signed Arlington Hambright to their practice squad.

Fotheringham signed a reserve/future contract with Las Vegas in January and was vying for a depth role at tight end on the team's roster, but he didn't make the cut. The 26-year-old had a decent performance during the exhibition slate, catching three of four targets for 31 yards. Fotheringham got into two regular-season contests with the Raiders last year, catching his only target for six yards.
Active for OTAs
Fotheringham (hamstring) has been active for the Raiders' OTA sessions. Fotheringham suffered a hamstring injury in the team's Week 17 matchup with the Colts before signing a reserve/future contract with the Raiders in January. He now looks to be a full go ahead of the 2024 campaign after he appeared in two contests with Las Vegas last season, reeling in his only target for six yards while playing 21 offensive snaps. The 26-year-old will attempt to carve out a reserve role for himself behind Michael Mayer and Brock Bowers at tight end this year.
