Baker racked up 164 tackles, including 2.0 sacks, five pass defenses and one forced fumble in 17 games during the 2024 season. Since entering the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2017 Draft, Baker hasn't been involved too much in terms of turnovers (just seven interceptions, seven forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries in 122 career contests). However, he's reached the century mark in tackles five times in eight campaigns, including a personal best (by 17) in 2024. Baker is under contract through the 2027 campaign, so the 29-year-old remains locked in as a top IDP option among the league's defensive backs.

Budda Baker Latest News
Records career-high tackle mark

Nearly picks off Stafford

Baker logged seven tackles (one solo) and two pass defenses during the Cardinals' 13-9 loss to the Rams on Sunday. Baker nearly picked off Matthew Stafford late in the second quarter on a pass intended for Tyler Higbee, but instead the Rams scored on the next play on a one-yard touchdown run by Kyren Williams. Baker has tallied at least seven combined tackles in all but one game this season, and his 155 combined tackles through 16 regular-season games is second-most in the NFL behind Zaire Franklin (165). With Arizona eliminated from playoff contention, Baker will look to finish the 2024 campaign on a high note against San Francisco on Sunday.
Six tackles against Carolina

Baker tallied six tackles (two solo) during the Cardinals' 36-30 overtime loss to the Panthers on Sunday. Baker has played in every single defensive snap in 11 of 15 regular-season games. He's up to 148 combined tackles on the year, which is not only second-most in the NFL behind Zaire Franklin (151), but it eclipsed Baker's career-best output from the 2019 campaign (147). Baker's production was rewarded this past Tuesday when he signed a three-year, $54 million extension to become the third-highest paid safety on an APY basis behind Antoine Winfield and Derwin James. Baker will look to add to his tackling total in Saturday's NFC West clash against the Rams.
Inks three-year extension

Baker signed a three-year, $54 million extension with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Baker's extension includes $30 million guaranteed, and his $18 million APY is the third largest for a safety in NFL history behind Antoine Winfield ($21 million) and Derwin James ($19 million). Baker has played every single snap in 11 of 14 regular-season games and has accumulated 142 tackles (88 solo), including 2.0 sacks, and three pass defenses. He should surpass his career-best tackling total from the 2019 campaign (147 tackles across 16 regular-season games) against the Panthers on Sunday.
Dominant in loss

Baker totaled 18 tackles (eight solo) during Arizona's loss to the Seahawks on Sunday. Baker had one of his best games of the campaign despite the loss as he racked up a season-high 18 tackles. Throughout 13 games played, the 28-year-old has compiled 132 tackles (81 solo), with 2.0 sacks, and will look to add to his total during the team's Week 15 matchup versus New England.
Seven tackles against Minnesota

Baker finished Sunday's 23-22 loss to the Vikings with seven tackles (five solo). Baker and Mack Wilson co-led the Cardinals in tackles Sunday. Baker has registered at least seven tackles in all 12 regular-season games, and for the year he's up to 114 tackles (73 solo), including 2.0 sacks, and three pass defenses.
Another strong game despite loss

Baker finished with seven tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks, in Sunday's 16-6 loss to the Seahawks. The veteran safety also played on every defensive snap for the eighth time in 11 games and increased his season tackle total to 107 (68 solo), the fifth-best mark in the league. With six regular-season games to go, Baker is only 40 tackles shy of his career high of 147, set in 2019.
Continues dominating in Week 10

Baker recorded nine total tackles (six solo), including 1.0 sacks and an additional two tackles for loss, and defended one pass in Sunday's 31-6 win over the Jets. Baker stuffed the stat sheet in Sunday's blowout win, continuing to add to one of his most productive season in the NFL. The All-Pro safety has now accumulated 100 total tackles (the second-most in the NFL), including 1.0 sacks, and three passes defended through the Cardinals' first 10 games this season. Arizona has a Week 11 bye; however, Baker is expected to keep building on his incredible 2024 campaign when the Cardinals take on the Seahawks in Week 12.
Another big performance in win

Baker finished with 12 tackles (10 solo) in Sunday's 29-9 win over the Bears. The veteran safety is now second in the league in tackles with 91 and tied for first in solo tackles with 58. Baker also has two pass breakups on the year. He has played on every defensive snap in six of nine games and on at least 85 percent of the defensive snaps in all nine contests.
